Exciting Showcase Promised
For CME 2000The second annual Caribbean Music Expo (CME 2000) slated for November 29 to December 3 in Ocho Rios will feature several panels and workshops with international music industry experts, a trade fair which includes a CD Market on December 2 and a series of live concert performances. The concerts, as they did last year, will highlight the music of artistes from the French, Spanish and English speaking Caribbean covering music genres such as Reggae, Dancehall, Salsa, Meringue, Soca, Zouk, R&B, Rap and Jazz.
According to the CME organizers, showcase applications for CME 2000 continue to pour in on a daily basis to meet the August 31 deadline. Already several applications have been received from recording artistes from Cuba, Haiti, Guadeloupe, Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, France and the United States. The showcases will be held again this year at the Little Pub and the Renaissance Jamaica Grande with the big CME Beach Party concert to bring the curtains down at the convention at James Bond Beach on Sunday, December 3.
Over forty artistes from twelve countries performed at CME last year including from Jamaica, Lexxus, Spragga Benz, Richie Spice, Prezident Brown, Ward 21, Innocent Crew, Fahrenheit, alongside overseas based artistes such as Wyclef Jean, Doug E Fresh, Allison Hinds and Square One, 3 Canal, Tito Puente, Jr., Son Damas (Cuba) and Yumuri Y Sus Hermanos (Cuba).
